The reading program is comprised of four sections: Results of national achievement tests for several years support these findings that Filipino students are poor in mathematics.
Their motivation to learn plays an important role for them to achieve. To verify this scenario, an instrument scale on attitudes toward mathematics among Filipinos has been developed.
Although numerous of them abound, not even one of the existing instruments emphasized the four factors such as liking and disliking mathematics, tendency to engage in or avoid mathematics activities, belief that one is good or bad in mathematics and belief that mathematics is useful or useless.
With the development of this scale, teachers and researchers will realize that success or failure in math performance is greatly determined by personal beliefs. MCCC is a student-managed strategy that teaches discrete skills through errorless correction.
Match to sample is another strategy that teaches how to identify and discriminate based on a visual representation of the identical information. The effectiveness of MCCC and match to sample was evaluated using a multiple baseline design.
The results indicated that MCCC and match to sample was effective in teaching a single middle age school student with disabilities his name, phone number, home address, and emergency contact name and phone number.
Maintenance of the basic functional life skills was also found; except for the emergency contact name. However, even if maintenance was not conducted on the final set, emergency phone number was maintained; this is attributed to the length of teaching sessions on the final set.
The MCCC and match to sample interventions were both easy to implement and employ in the special education middle school classroom.
Most of the laboratories in natural science fields widely use chemicals of different types and hazard levels. Data were collected from randomly selected student respondents enrolled in Chemistry Laboratory Classes during the second semester of SY A structured questionnaire was used for the data collection.
The collected data were analyzed using simple quantitative analysis. The results of the study revealed that the majority of the respondents were familiar with hazard signs of laboratory chemicals.
After getting information on their level of awareness about potential hazards of laboratory chemicals, the respondents were also requested to match chemical properties with the corresponding labels or pictograms.
The results indicate that familiarity and understanding of hazard warning signs is low among the students. It also surveyed the preferred labelling technique which revealed that majority favoured the use of both colors and signs.
An action plan was drafted as an output of the study aimed at putting forward corrective measures to address the laboratory related problems identified in the study.
The respondents of the study were the tribal leaders who assumed leadership in their community.
